Do you really intend to learn the French language? Other than enrolling in a language school or getting a private tutor to give you language lessons, another option that you have is to learn French language online. Aside from getting a convenient course in learning the French language, the Internet can even give you a free French language course.
If you really have a strong intention and interest for the French language, then go ahead and take advantage of what the Internet brings for you to learn French language online. Of course, problems may arise while doing an online course but there are just some things that you should NOT do if you want to learn the French language online:
1. Be a primeval computer ignoramus. A French language online course cannot be fully enjoyed and optimized by someone who knows nothing or very little about personal computers. We are living in the computer age and there is nothing we can do to pull back the hands of time just to go back to a simpler way of life. Take advantage of whatever technology brings. In the past, it was impossible to learn French as a second language without a tutorial education or actual immersion in a francophonic place, but now the modern computer brings forth virtual learning via the Internet.
2. Think that the Internet will instantly show you everything you need to learn French language online. A French language online course may be easy to access. However, a French online course is not offered in an entirely complete package in one instant serving. Excuse moi but you need to do a lot of typing on the computer keyboard. Browse pages. Click the mouse when necessary. Those are just some manual labor you have to do on the computer. Doing a computer work is really not physically draining, but there is always work involved.
Aside from manual labor, to learn French language online is to do a lot of mental work. Resourcefulness in online navigation and searching for those free online French courses can take more than a few clicks and tries. These may seem tedious but you'll get your reward when you've found that perfect French course.
3. Memorize to learn French language online. To learn French language online does not mean being lazy in your study. You should not also be a mechanical memorizing robot. It is good to memorize words, phrases, and even expressions, but language learning is not entirely memorization. You are not a robot programmed to a formulaic input and output. Speaking in French excellently means thinking in French first. This means formulating combinations of words to come up with grammatically sound French sentences. Language learning is not simply memorizing formulas. As much as a French language online course is an interactive activity, it is also an active mental process.
